Remote installation

During job configuration, the Image Service is installed from the versiondog server onto the device of which you want to create an image.

After the Image Service has been installed remotely. As standard, its files are stored in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\AUVESY\services.

Port

After the remote installation, the image Service uses the port TCP 64007 and communicates with other services via this port. This port needs to be opened in the firewall.

Services

For the remote installation, it is necessary that the service WinRM or alternatively one of the services WMI or PSExec, is configured and enabled on the versiondog server and the device that you want to back up.

Only one of the services is required.

Whether the Image Service service is running can be queried with a web browser using the following URL:

https://IP address of the target device:64007/api/v2/self/info

System requirements

WinRM WMI PSExec
From Powershell 2.0 no versions from 2.2

Below is more information about configuring WinRM, WMI and PSExec. If these are not sufficient, read the Windows documentation or contact your Windows administrator.

Changing admin share

For remote installation, an admin share is required to access drives of the device that you want to be backed up by the Image Service. By default, this admin share is called C$.

To be able to backup devices that do not have a C$ share, such as KUKA KRC, you can overwrite them for individual jobs. To do this, enter the desired share name in the Admin share field. This is located in the Additional information section of the Job configuration.
