Restoring projects
When a device fails or versiondog detects any unauthorized program changes during a routine job execution, rapid disaster recovery should be carried out. You have two options:
-
Restoring using a Backup
In most cases this option is preferable because each job execution that is carried out has the potential to serve as a backup and, as a result of this, the latest version is always available.
-
Restoring using a version
This option can be an alternative if there are no backups and, before the disaster recovery, the version on the controller was identical to the version in versiondog .
Restoring using a backup
- In UserClient, select the component.
-
In component details, go to Jobs and click on the job that you want to use to restore the backup.
- Select the backup by either right-clicking on it or selecting it and then going to the ribbon and clicking on Copy backup to directory.
- Select the directory that you want to copy the backup to.
-
Open the backup with the corresponding Editor.
- Carry out a restoration according to the manufacturer specifications.
Restoring using a version
If a version containing the project data was stored on the versiondog server, you can use it to restore the device. Proceed as follows:
- In the UserClient, select the component of the project that you wish to restore.
- Check out the version of the component that you want to restore.
- Open the project with the corresponding editor.
- Carry out a restoration according to the manufacturer specifications.
