Term component type
Each component has a component type. This defines the rules and properties of a component on how to handle the contents of the directory in the file system.
The properties of a component type can be customized in the Component Type Editor module, located in the AdminClient. Changes to a component type are global, in other words, all components created with this type adopt the changed properties.
The icon that is displayed (instead of the normal Windows folder icon) in UserClient in the project tree represents the component type.
The component type determines:

The comparator classes and the method used in the comparison

The files included and excluded from the comparison process

The files that are saved in a version or ignored during versioning
