Creating new component types

The project data of the automation device, that you want to back up, will need to be analyzed. It is important to find out which files need to be backed up. If you wish to carry out a comparison of these files, you will need to select the appropriate comparator.

1. Start the AdminClient and open the Component type editor module.
2. Select a suitable directory in the Component type library or create a new one.
3. In the directory, create a new component type T-5000.

The binary comparator

All files that you want to compare, but cannot be assigned to a universal comparator (for example, ASCII and Excel), can be compared using the Binary comparator. In our example, the Binary comparator is explicitly specified for all unknown files (*.*). This means that changes in a file, which is not precisely defined, can still be tracked. For example, the Database.bin file is compared using the Binary comparator. If, at a later date, you add other files, whose format is not known, they will also be compared using the binary comparator.
